Introducing our new Head of School, Johanna Aeschliman

Dear Peninsula Community,

On behalf of the Peninsula School Board of Directors, I am thrilled to announce that the Head of School (HoS) Search Committee’s recommendation of Johanna Aeschliman as our next HoS was approved by the Board, and she has enthusiastically accepted the position! Johanna’s experience as a thoughtful, student-centered administrator, leadership in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives, and shared commitment to Peninsula’s mission, vision and values make her the ideal choice to lead the school into its next 100 years.
We will welcome Johanna officially as our Head of School on July 1st, 2024. To help ensure a seamless transition, over the coming months she will partner with Erik Carlson, to whom we are truly grateful for his dedicated and experienced leadership during this interim year.

Statement from the Co-Chairs

The Peninsula Board of Directors has launched a thoughtful and inclusive process to successfully find the next Head of School. The search will engage members of our community – including students, families, staff, and alumni – to help guide this mission-critical work.
In finding our new leader, we look to build on our rich history spanning nearly a century and uphold our mission and values. Every step of the process will be marked by careful deliberation and thoughtfulness, all with the aim of having the next Head of School selected by the end of 2023 for a term that will begin July 1, 2024.
Educators Collaborative has been retained to shepherd the search process and ensure we identify mission-aligned candidates with the skills and experience necessary to lead Peninsula’s dynamic community, uphold our progressive values, and continue to deliver on our mission: to create a space where children thrive and develop their full promise as confident contributors in the world.
