A 20+ year Peninsula School tradition continued this year with our 6th-grade students planning and executing a historical reenactment of the fiery defeat of the Spanish Armada. In the course of one week, students studied the political, religious, and economic conflicts between England and Spain, built model ships, donned costumes, and memorized lines in Spanish and English before setting sail on Lake Peninsula (our giant school puddle).

Head Teacher Christy shares, "There's something really special each year about seeing the whole class put on a performance that has something for everyone, even the kids who don't see themselves as being into either theater or history — everyone can get behind a mix of sword fighting, royal gowns, decapitation, and fire around the mud puddle!"

A huge thank you to teachers Christy, Nicole, and Damien for nurturing student interest and supporting this creative student-led interpretation of history.
