Black Lives Matter at School: Week of Action, Year of Purpose

Lisa Goochee, Communications & Outreach

BLM at School calls for teachers to engage in deep learning and continue their development in becoming anti-racist educators. This learning starts with listening humbly to the voices of the communities we serve, particularly Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities.

In this week of action, Peninsula School community participated in many endeavors towards these goals. Staff discussed feedback from a recent ‘Listening Tour’ conducted with our community and focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Staff learning continued with a deep dive into anti-racist practices we can use with kids in developmentally appropriate ways.

All of this work supports Peninsula to create more equitable classrooms. We share immense gratitude to our staff for engaging in this deep work.
